Journalists are not respected in the Upper West Region - Baba Jamal*
A Broadcasting Journalist in the Upper west region,Baba Jamal who is also the General Manager for Sungmaale FM has registered his displeasure with the way the political parties in the Upper west region are treating Journalists and Media workers.
In a conversation with the NPP regional Chairman, Chairman SB Kangberee who paid a courtesy call on Sungmaale FM to meet the staff and also have an interaction with them as the election year begins, Baba Jamal said when the Political parties especially NPP and NDC have a program and the Media goes there, they are not fairly treated and always being disappointed. Adding that the Regional Coordinating Council ( RCC ) mostly bring Media workers from other regions to cover their stories especially when some dignitaries are coming from Accra to do a program here in the Upper west region whilst the region is full of good Professional Media workers. "When you go to some of their programs, they will tell you they did not invite you here, and it is our duty to feed the public with news and information" Baba added.
He therefore call on the Political leaders and the RCC to always acknowledge the Local Media and give due respect to them,and also to stop bringing media workers from other regions to cover our stories
